Lawrence County Republican Party will hold a caucus to replace Clerk Billie Tumey

BEDFORD – Due to current Lawrence County Clerk Billie Tumey winning the vacant position of Bedford City Clerk-Treasurer, the Lawrence County Republican Party will be holding a caucus for the Lawrence County Clerk position on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Brinegar Hall, located in the Stonegate Arts and Education Center, 931 15th Street, in Bedford.

The caucus will begin at 1 p.m.

Anyone interested in running for the position needs to file at the Lawrence County Clerks/Voter Registration office 72 hours before the caucus date.

If only one candidate has filed for the position by that point, then the caucus will be canceled and the filed candidate will be announced the winner.

If no candidates file by that date, then the Party will make an appointment.  Precinct Committee people representing each Lawrence County precinct will be allowed to vote for the clerk position.

If individual Precinct committee people are unable to attend, then their respective Vice Precinct Committee people can vote in their stead.
