Huntingburg man facing numerous charges after pursuit in Dubois County

DUBOIS CO. – A Huntingburg man is facing multiple felony charges after he fled a traffic stop early Monday morning.

Police arrested 31-year-old Leonel Hernandez after a pursuit and he nearly struck a Dubois County Sheriff’s deputy who was deploying stop sticks.

Hernandez finally pulled over the pickup truck he was driving.

During a search of his vehicle deputies found meth and a small amount of marijuana on his person.

After securing a search warrant police found more meth and drug paraphernalia at his home.

In total, deputies found nearly 51 grams of meth.

Hrenandez is facing more than 13 charges including dealing and possession of meth, attempted battery on a police officer with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest with a motor vehicle, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and obstruction of justice and being a habitual traffic offender.

Hernandez is being held without bond in the Dubois County Security Center.
