Raymond Johnson, 82, of Bedford, passed away on January 19, 2023, at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born on July 2, 1940, he was the son of George and Eliza (Noble) Johnson. He married Martha Brinegar on November 12, 1972, in Lawrence County and she preceded him in death on October 13, 2020. Raymond attended Tunnelton High School and worked for Carpenter Body Works, where he retired. He was also a farmer. Raymond was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Leesville.
Surviving Raymond are three brothers, Willard (Connie) Johnson of Bedford, IN, Frank (Mary) Johnson of Princeton, IN, and Richard (Marilyn) Johnson of Bedford, IN; and four sisters, Mary Allman of Seymour, IN, Marie (John) Baker of Leesville, IN, Edith Kemper of Bedford, IN, and Betty (Tom) Dion of Texas.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Martha; parents, George and Eliza; two brothers, Graden Johnson and his wife Wanda, and George Johnson Jr. and his wife Renee; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Allman.
Funeral services for Raymond will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Ferguson- Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Andrew Johnson officiating. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to the service time on Monday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Burial will follow at the Fairview Christian Church Cemetery with graveside Military Rites being accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
