The investigation by Clark began at approximately 10 a.m. when he stopped a 2020 Toyota passenger car on I-65 Northbound near the Jackson/Bartholomew County Line for traveling well over the posted 70-mile-per-hour speed limit.  During the traffic stop, Clark observed that the driver, Anthony A. Reed, 36, Huntsville, Alabama, showed signs of intoxication.

Reed was transported to the Seymour Police Department where he submitted to a breath test for intoxication.  The test determined Reed had a blood-alcohol level of 0.24%.

Reed was transported to the Jackson County Jail, where he was remanded to the custody of the jail staff on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, OWI with a child under the age of 18 in the vehicle, and OWI with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent or greater.

More charges are possible, according to police.

An adult female passenger and the child were released from the scene.
