State police find, arrest man wanted in two counties

MITCHELL – An Indiana State Police trooper arrested two people on drug charges after they received information that 30-year-old Justin Lacey was at a residence at 2349 VFW Road.

Lacey was wanted on four outstanding warrants in both Lawrence and Orange County. Lacey was wanted for auto theft, fraud, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended in Lawrence County and for theft in Orange County.

Police also learned Lacey was driving a black Ford F150 owned by 44-year-old Nikki Bundy.

Prior to police arriving at the home on VFW Road, a trooper conducted visual surveillance at the home. While doing that Bundy arrived at the home in a different vehicle.

Officers entered the home and spoke to the homeowner and Bundy. Troopers noted they could smell the odor of raw marijuana in the home. Both told police Lacey was not at the residence. The homeowner gave police permission to search the home. 

Officers obtained a search warrant for the home. The homeowner told police if Lacey was in the home she was unaware of it. Lacey was found underneath a bed attempting to avoid detection.

Lacey was detained along with Bundy.

During a search of the house, police found a loaded handgun, crystal meth, marijuana, and smoking devices. In Bundy’s purse police found a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, and crystal meth.

Bundy was arrested on felony charges of possession of meth, obstruction of justice, assisting a criminal and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Lacey was arrested on his outstanding warrants and new charges of possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
