Obituary: Lillian “Stubbie” Kimbley

September 21, 1922 – January 5, 2023

Lillian “Stubbie” Kimbley, 100, of Lawrence County passed away peacefully at her residence on January 5, 2023.

Born on September 21, 1922, she was the daughter of Harry and Grace (Hughes) Lee. She married Walter “Bill” Kimbley on December 24, 1945, in Bedford, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2007.

Stubbie graduated from Tunnelton High School and was a lifelong member of White River Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Stubbie are her children, Steve Kimbley and wife Terri of Bedford, IN, Cheryl Mills of Bedford, IN, and Kevin Kimbley and wife Shelly of Hammond IN; grandchildren, Chad Mills, Lori Cobb, Kristi Horton, Kelli Geier, Holly Kimbley, Heather Figg, and Trey Kimbley; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Stubbie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace; husband, Bill; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Wesner, Dorothy Mathis, and Betty Jean Wright.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the White River Baptist Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Dalton officiating.

Contributions in memory of Stubbie can be made to Hoosier Uplands Hospice or White River Baptist Church.

The Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford has been entrusted with the arrangements for Stubbie.
