Man arrested after admitting to Troopers the meth was his

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement served a search warrant on Thursday, December 22 at a home at 276 Rawlins Mill Road.

Troopers arrested 52-year-old Byron Ira on a charge of possession of meth.

The search warrant was in reference to Ira’s involvement with the dealing and possession of controlled substances. 

On that day troopers witnessed a vehicle turn into the driveway on Rawlins Mill Road and Ira was a passenger in the vehicle. 

Trooper approached Ira and asked him to step out of the vehicle. 

A trooper located a plastic bag containing approximately one gram of crystal meth under Ira’s seat. Ira later confessed the meth belonged to him.  

Ira was incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail on a charge of possession of meth.
