BPD officers arrest man covered in bloody clothing

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after Bedford Police officers were called to Revere’s Food & Fuel on Tuesday at 12:53 a.m. after a report of a suspicious male with blood covering his clothing. The caller reported the male was in the parking lot, scaring customers and employees.

Daniel Endicott

Officers realized the male matched the description of 42-year-old Daniel Endicott, who officers had two encounters with earlier in the shift.

The first encounter was during an accident on John Williams Boulevard on Monday, at 10:52 p.m. Endicott approached the scene on foot and removed a deer carcass, causing his clothes to be covered in blood.

Endicott told bystanders he was going to take the deer and hang it up behind Walmart.

After officers were finished working the accident scene they located Endicott dragging the deer carcass down the sidewalk toward Walmart. Officers stopped Endicott and told him he could not hang the deer on Walmart’s property or in the view of the public. Endicott became agitated, and verbally aggressive and walked away leaving the deer on the sidewalk.

Just 30 minutes later, officers were dispatched to Walmart. Walmart staff contacted dispatch to report a male covered in blood had attempted to purchase a BB gun, a knife, and other items.

Endicott became verbally abusive to a Walmart employee when he was informed that he could not purchase the BB gun. Officers responded to Walmart and stayed with Endicott as he purchased his items. Endicott was again reminded that he could not hang the deer on Walmart’s property or in the view of the public.

Later, officers had an encounter with Endicott at Revere’s Food & Fuel.

An employee informed police she was at the front counter assisting a customer when Endicott covered in blood, entered the store and approached the counter. Endicott told the clerk that ‘he had found the poachers and had been attempting to gut a deer but was unsuccessful”.

The clerk said Endicott was pacing back and forth and appeared “spaced out”. He then purchased a pack of cigarettes, walked away from the counter, and exited the store but remained in the parking lot.

Endicott re-entered the store grabbed two gallons of tea, and approached the front counter. He set the tea on the counter and then pulled out the bloody knife. The clerk told police Edicott appeared confused and under the influence of some drug.

Officers located Edicott on James Avenue near Crane Credit Union and stopped him. Endicott’s clothes were bloody and he had a knife hanging on his right hip. When told about the complaint at Revere’s, Endicott became agitated.  He was detained.

Endicott was taken to the Bedford Police Department for processing and transported to jail where he continued to be hostile and lunged at an officer.

Endicott faces charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, attempted aggravated battery, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
