Bedford man arrested after entering woman’s home

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Monday after Bedford Police officers were called to the 400 block of Northwood Drive after a report of a man walking into the caller’s home.

The woman reported she was lying on her couch holding her baby when a man rang the doorbell. The woman told police, immediately after ringing the doorbell, the man walked into the house startling the woman.

The man identified as 44-year-old David Phillips exited the home but then reentered.

Phillips was detained on a charge of residential entry and transported to the Bedford Police Department.

Phillips was asked why he walked into his neighbor’s home. He told police he has been texting a female and believed she lived there. He said when he rang the doorbell the woman he was texting told him to come inside so he did. When he opened the door he encountered a different woman.

He then left the house. But then got a second text from the woman telling him to come back inside. That is when he encountered a male.

Police say Phillips appeared disoriented and confused. He admitted to using meth earlier in the day.

Phillips was detained on charges of residential entry and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
