BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department first responders rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on US 50 East at Stonegate Court at 6:44 p.m. Saturday.

According to a police report, Sherri May, 51, of Bedford was traveling east on US 50 East and had stopped her 2000 Chevrolet Equinox to make a left turn onto Stonegate Court.

At the same time, Trace Rynder, 17, of Bedford, who was driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck became distracted with his cell phone and didn’t notice the stopped car.

May’s vehicle ran into a stone embankment on Stonegate Court.

May complained of arm pain and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Rynder was not injured.
