Intoxicated teen vomits on restaurant table and is arrested

BEDFORD – A Bedford Police officer detained a 13-year-old male Tuesday on charges of illegal consumption and public intoxication after he was approached by a woman in the 3000 block of John Williams Boulevard regarding an apparently intoxicated teen male. She reported the teen had vomited on the local restaurant’s table.

When officers approached the table they found the male slumped over and covered in vomit. The officers requested the teen to step outside of the establishment.

While walking outside the teen staggered and lost his balance causing him to fall to the floor.

Once outside, the teen continued to sway and demonstrated poor manual dexterity to the level that officers advised the teen to sit down, so he would not fall again.

The teen was administered a preliminary breath test which resulted positive for alcohol consumption.

The individual that stopped to pick the teen up from a residence in Bedford before taking him to the restaurant, claimed he “reeked of alcohol and was staggering everywhere”.

The teen was detained and placed in the rear of the police car and transported to the Bedford Police Department.

The teen’s guardian was contacted and Lawrence County Juvenile Probation was alerted. The teen was issued a summons to appear in juvenile court on November 30th at 9 a.m. and released to his guardian.
