Seymour man arrested after toddler tests positive for meth

SEYMOUR – A Seymour man is behind bars after a toddler tested positive for meth Sunday. Other charges are pending.

According to the Seymour Police Department, the Indiana Department of Child Services alerted officers that a 10-month-old child had been admitted to Schneck Medical Center for observation and had tested positive for meth. The child is listed in stable condition.

Police say that they gathered enough information to seek a search warrant at an apartment on Jackson Park Drive. Officers served the warrant at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.

During a search of the apartment, police found meth and marijuana.

Edward Swindall

Officers detained 48-year-old Edward J. Swindall on charges of possessing meth.

Another individual claimed responsibility for the marijuana, and charges will be filed with the prosecutor, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.
