Washington man dies from injuries in a logging accident

WASHINGTON – A Washington man was flown to a Kentucky hospital after getting struck in the head in a logging accident on Friday, November 4th.

According to Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, at 10:30 a.m. Central Dispatch received a request for an ambulance at 1587 West County 400 South in Washington for a male who had been struck in the head by a large tree limb. When first responders arrived, they found 26-year-old Galen Ray Wagler unresponsive approximately 200 feet inside a wooded area.

Air evac was alerted and landed at the scene. With the help of Washington Township’s ATV Rescue unit, Wagler was extricated from the wooded area and was flown to a Louisville Hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

Wagler died from his injuries on Saturday, November 5th. Funeral services for Galen Wagler were held Tuesday, November 8th.

Assisting at the scene were also Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Daviess Community Hospital Ambulance Service, and the Veale Fire Department.
