Woman arrested after police find drugs in a bedroom

MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested on drug charges after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a home in the 6000 block of State Road 60 West to arrest Cody Powell on October 25, 2022, who was wanted on a warrant.

Police found Powell in a bedroom that he shared with 45-year-old Alicia Claffey.

While arresting Powell he resisted and Claffey became belligerent with officers. 

She was told several times to stop. 

In the bedroom, police found baggies of 15.7 grams of meth mixed with fentanyl, marijuana, a glass smoking pipe, along with a set of scales and syringes.

Powell was arrested on the scene and the information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office. A warrant was issued for Claffey’s arrest on charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of meth, possession of fentanyl, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.
