Woman jumps from moving vehicle to flee violent kidnapping

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington Police said a violent kidnapping ended when the victim jumped out of a moving vehicle.

Officers were called to a Bloomington hospital on October 18 to speak with the female patient. She told police she was riding in a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Wade Jackson, of Bloomington when she jumped out of the vehicle on West Tapp Road.

The woman told police she was at an apartment earlier that day with friends when Jackson showed up asking if she was there. The woman said she hid but Jackson found her and dragged her outside by her ponytail while hitting and kicking her in the head, back, hips and legs. Jackson threatened to kill the woman if she caused a scene once they were outside.

The woman told police Jackson hit her with his right hand while he drove with his left hand and again threatened to kill her. The woman told police she feared for her life and therefore jumped from the moving vehicle.

A witness claimed Jackson was driving “erratically and swerving.” She told investigators she could not see inside the vehicle due to tinted windows but thought those inside the car were involved in a domestic dispute.

That same witness saw a woman jumping out of the vehicle and the driver sped off.

The woman suffered road rash on her back, shoulders, legs, and feet and a large abrasion on her head.

Police arrested Jackson at his apartment on Lenzy Way on Sunday.
