Edinburg woman dies after being struck by a vehicle in Columbus

COLUMBUS – An Edinburgh woman died after being hit by a car in Columbus Wednesday night.

According to Columbus Police, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on Indianapolis Road near Arcadia Drive at 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Besain Ozaeta, of Columbus, told officers he was driving his Nissan Sentra south on Indianapolis Road when he hit someone who was walking along the road.

The pedestrian was identified as 38-year-old Victoria Hagan, of Edinburgh. She died from her injuries at the scene.

The road was closed for five hours while police investigated the incident.

Those assisting at the scene include Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Edinburgh Police Department officers, Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, Columbus Fire Department and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office.
