Single-vehicle crash claims man’s life

INDIANAPOLIS – A single-vehicle crash on I-70 near Keystone Avenue has claimed a man’s life.

Sunday, at 1:31 p.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a serious crash in the backyard of a residence near the I-70 and Keystone Avenue interchange.

911 calls indicated a vehicle had come off of I-70 and ended up in a person’s yard. When first responders arrived they found a severely damaged van with an unresponsive adult male inside. The man was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation has determined the man was driving westbound on I-70 near Keystone Avenue when he drove off the roadway for unknown reasons. His vehicle went down an embankment and came to rest off the intestate near Keystone and Bloyd. Bystanders stopped and provided emergency aid to the unresponsive man until first responders arrived. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to release.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Indianapolis Fire Department, Indianapolis EMS, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
