Woman hits man and is arrested

MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested Thursday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the 1400 block of Spice Valley Road after a report of a domestic fight.

When police arrived, they talked to a Kevin Niemi and found he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear and he was detained.

Lisa Skeen

He told police his girlfriend, 34-year-old Lisa Skeen, was bipolar and had been off her medication.

He told police Skeen had gone out to her car looked inside and then came back inside and began yelling at him. She then hit him repeatedly in the side of the head with a closed fist.

Police said he had reddening to his ear and neck. He had scratches on his wrist and left forearm where he attempted to block her stricks to his face.

He then told police Skeen also threw items at him, striking him.

Niemi signed a battery affidavit.

Police was unsuccessful at contacting Skeen.

However, after Niemi posted bond and was released from jail, he called the police and reported that Skeen would not allow him inside his home.

When police arrived they found Niemi still outside of the home.

Officers knocked on the door and announced their presence. She then began yelling “Kevin that better not be you trying to put your hands on me again.”  Officers again announced their presence and told Skeen to open the door.

Skeen finally opened the door, stepped outside and was detained.

She told police that Niemi had “hit himself and she had no marks on her hands so she couldn’t have hit him”.

Skeen finally admitted he had thrown items inside the home and at Niemi.

She was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
