State Road 135 closure rescheduled for next week in Brown County

BROWN CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to close a section of S.R. 135 next week to remove and replace a quadruple drainage pipe south of S.R. 46 in Brown County. This work was originally scheduled for early August.

On or after Tuesday, October 11, S.R. 135 will close just under half a mile south of S.R. 46 (near Beech Drive) to allow crews to remove an existing structure from under the roadway and replace it with a new one. Crews will then backfill the area with concrete, which will require an additional cure time, through Thursday, October 13. Access will be maintained up to the point of closure.

Once curing and repaving is complete, the road will reopen to traffic. The surface will remain rough until patching work can occur later in the week. All work is expected to be complete by Saturday, October 15.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active work zones. Thru traffic should seek an alternate route while the road is closed.
