Lawrence County commissioners vote to decrease the speed limits on select county roads

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners passed an ordinance Tuesday morning to decrease the speed limit on select Lawrence County roads.

The ordinance was passed after Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb and Sheriff Mike Branham conducted traffic investigations and submitted their recommendations to the commissioners for review.

The ordinance establishes the following speed limits:

  • Bedford Street in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour.
  • Brick Street in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour.
  • Old Farm Road in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 35 miles per hour.
  • Old Farm Road at LCIS school zone in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour
  • Popcorn Road, south of Spencer Pike Road, in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour
  • Springville Drive in both directions will have a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour
  • Springville Judah Road between Popcorn Road and Harrodsburg Road in both directions will have a speed limit of 35 miles per hour

New speed limit signs will be placed by the highway department.
