Some residents are still without power after storm

LAWRENCE CO. – Several residents remain without power this morning as violent storms raced through Lawrence County late Wednesday.

Duke Energy is reporting just over 1,000 customers are without power. They hope to have the power restored by 11:45 a.m. today.

As daylight breaks, many will be cleaning up their yards and businesses after strong winds ripped through the area.

Volunteer fire departments and police officers were busy Wednesday responding to down trees and branches and debris in roadways.

Reports of baseball-sized hail and tornadoes and straight-line winds were made as the storms hit around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
