However the driver, 32-year-old Jessica Hooten failed to stop, continued traveling south and ran the stop sign at the intersection of 24th and M streets. As the vehicle approached the intersection of M and 25th streets it slowed and attempted to turn. The officer positioned the police vehicle beside and slightly in front of the Toyota preventing it from turning east on 25th Street. The vehicle came to a stop.

The officer then asked Hooten why she didn’t stop and she told the officer she didn’t see him. The officer said Hooten was intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests.

Hooten was detained on charges of resisting arrest, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, and OWI.
