North splashes to sweep of BNL

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington North powered to wins over Bedford North Lawrence during high school swimming action on Thursday.

The Cougars won the boys meet 116-68 and took the girls meet by a 134-43 count.

Alexander Swenson was a double winner for BNL in the boys meet. He took the 200-yard individual medley in 2:11.14 and touched first in the 100 butterfly in 56.71.

North’s Ben Dixon won two events, taking the 50 freestyle (22.53) and 100 free (49.74).

In the girls meet, BNL’s Emma Gabhart won twice. She cruised to the wall in 2:14.26 in the 200 IM, then claimed the 100 butterfly in 1:00.74.

“We had another great early-season meet,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “We continue to see times and time drops well ahead of where we were last year.”

BNL will host Martinsville on Tuesday.
