LAKE CO. – The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission is beginning the process of selecting a new Superior Court judge. A vacancy on the Lake Superior Court occurred on October 19, 2021, when Judge Diane Ross Boswell passed away. Judge Boswell served on the court with distinction for more than 16 years. Senior Judge Kathleen Lang is temporarily filling the position until a new judge is selected.
Commission Chairman and Indiana Supreme Court Justice Mark Massa announced applications for the position are available online and must be submitted through the Indiana Courts Portal by Monday, December 6 at 12:00 p.m. (Central).
According to Indiana law, the Commission is required to submit to the Governor “the five most highly qualified candidates from among all those eligible” for an appointment when a vacancy arises. Details on the Commission, including membership, are online.
The Commission expects to meet in December in Crown Point to interview the applicants.
