BNL runners sweep past LCHS

MITCHELL – BNL runners race at Spring Mill on Tuesday. The Stars swept two meets from LCHS.

MITCHELL – The hills were alive with the sounds of pounding shoes and heavy breathing as Bedford North Lawrence raced against Lawrence County Home School on the rugged terrain at Spring Mill State Park on Tuesday.

The Stars won the boys meet with 15 points, sweeping the top 13 places. BNL also won the girls dual meet with 16 points. LCHS did not have enough runners to complete a team score in either race.

Cole Baker won the boys race, crossing the finish line in 19:02.01, The Stars were packed together, with the top five finishers posting times within 22 seconds. Cameron Haste was second in 19:02.39 while Jonah Bailey was third in 19:04.47. Quentin Voigtschild was the top LCHS finisher (14th in 23:40.62).

In the girls race, Grace Tanksley set the pace for the Stars, winning in 21:30.73. Francesca Orozco was second in 23:08.65, while Ella Peek was third in 26:13.71. LCHS’s Kate Wisley was fifth in 28:25.75.

BNL will compete in the Eagle Classic at Brown County on Saturday.
