NLCS School board member to be named Thursday night

BEDFORD – The North Lawrence Community School board will vote on a new school board member to replace Rusty Garrison who recently resigned. The new school board member will be named Thursday night at the start of the school board meeting.

Six applicants applied for the vacant seat. They included Bryce Bennett, Amanda Chenoweth, Scott King, Adam Parsley, Heather Prince, and Brian Young.

There were three candidates selected for the interview process. Bryce Bennett and Heather Prince were both interviewed Monday night. However, Amanda Chenoweth did not partake in the interview process.

Bryce Bennett is a co-owner of Diamond Stone Technologies Inc. since 2007. He has a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University graduating in 1999 and graduated with an honors diploma from Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1995.

Heather Prince is also a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and has children who currently attend North Lawrence Community Schools and also has children who are graduates of the North Lawrence Community Schools.

She is a hairstylist and owner of New Roots Hair Salon and also previously in guest relations at Stonebridge Health Campus.

She graduated from BNLHS in 1995 and attended International Business College in their Administrative Business Program in 1996.

The board will vote on the person to fill the vacancy and if a tie should occur then Circuit Court Judge Nathan Nikirk will make the appointment.

The new board member will serve until December 31, 2022. The seat for District 3 will be up for election in November 2022.
