BEDFORD – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US 50 East and State Road 446 Wednesday afternoon.
The accident was reported at 1:04 p.m. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies, first responders from Bedford Fire Department and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew responded. A StatFlight medical helicopter landed at the scene.
According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 20-year-old Chelsey Devoll, of Chickasha, OK., was pulling out of Farmers Market when her brakes failed on her Dodge Neon.
Devoll’s vehicle t-boned a Chevrolet Transverse, driven by 46-year-old Nechole Hall, of Bedford. Hall was traveling east on US 50 East.
Hall was unable to avoid the collision and after the vehicle was struck she was able to pull over to the side of the road.
Devoll’s vehicle spun, ejecting one of her passengers, 16-year-old Hayleigh Davis, of Bedford. Davis, who was a back seat passenger, was found lying in the grass on the north corner of the intersection.
Devoll suffered injuries to her head, teeth, face, wrist, ankle and back.
Davis suffered injuries to her face, back and wrist.
Both were transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.
Devoll’s other back seat passenger, 15-year-old Brian Pinnick, of Bedford, was unconscious after suffering a head injury. He was flown from the scene by helicopter to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
Hall complained of body pain.
Both driver’s submitted to a blood test which is standard procedure in an accident with serious injuries.
