Donald Lee Wilson

May 4, 1942 – June 10, 2021

Donald Lee Wilson, 79, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, in Bedford.

Donald was born in Owensburg, on May 4, 1942, to Emerson and Tillie (Johnson) Wilson. On May 25, 1962, he
married his high school sweetheart, Karen Kay Wilson who preceded him in death.

Throughout his successful career, he worked for W.L Thomas, B&LS Mining, and Shand Mining. He also owned and operated a construction company for many years, D.L Wilson, Inc. He had a passion for running heavy equipment, especially bulldozers, and he prided himself on working hard every day. He enjoyed traveling to many countries for work and always had stories to tell about his adventures.

Donald loved his family more than anything and he was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was an auction enthusiast and a few of his favorite things to buy were heavy equipment and antiques, especially if it was a good deal. He also adored Friesian horses and owned several throughout his lifetime.

Surviving are his three daughters, Kim (Jerry) Waldridge of Owensburg, Terri Wilson of Bloomfield, and Kristi (Dale) Sissman of Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Randi (Erik) Browning of Washington, Steven (Allison) Waldridge of Owensburg, Stephanie Graves of Bloomfield, Aaron Sissman of Bloomfield, Eric (Brooke) Sissman of Ellettsville, and Amanda (Tyler) Collier of Vale, NC; fourteen great-grandchildren; and nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Shirley Wilson; and great-grandson Cordae Love.
