Foot pursuit lands Greene County man behind bars

SOLSBERRY – Sunday night at approximately 7:30 p.m. an Indiana State Police trooper responded to the a12000 block of Shady Meadows Drive in Solsberry to assist a Greene County Sheriff Department deputy in locating 50-year-old Gregory L. Johnson, from Solsberry after receiving a trespassing complaint. Johnson was also wanted on a warrant on charges of dealing meth. Police learned Johnson had left the area in a gray Volkswagen Passat.

When the trooper arrived in the area of State Road 45 and State Road 445, he located the Volkswagen and attempted to stop the driver, and blocked the driver’s door with his vehicle so that the driver’s door could not be accessible for the driver to exit.

Upon exiting his vehicle, the trooper noticed the passenger door open and a man in a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and gym shorts ran from the vehicle. As the trooper pursued the male through a residential area, the male fell and was then apprehended.

During the arrest, police found Johnson had numerous controlled substances in his possession.

Johnson was transported by Greene County Sheriff Department deputies to jail on the warrant for dealing and possession of meth and possession of a narcotic drug in Greene County, and new charges of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
