Bedford Board of Works votes to keep same health and vision plan

BEDFORD – The Bedford Board of Works voted to keep the same Health Insurance Contract during their meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The city will keep Anthem Health Insurance without raising premiums for city employees and their families. The city pays 85 percent of the premium.

The city did look at three other plans but this plan still remained the most cost-effective for both the city and employees. The city reviews health insurance every year. Currently, there are 150 employees using the health insurance plan.

In addition, the Board of Works voted to stay with VSP Vision Care. This year’s plan will have a slight increase in monthly premiums. The increases are 29 cents for an employee, 45 cents for an employee plus one, and 80 cents for a family plan.
