Two-vehicle accident on State Road 67 in Delaware County leads to three deaths

DELAWARE CO. – Saturday at approximately 9:40 a.m., Delaware County 911 received calls reporting a two-vehicle crash on State Road 67 north of County Road 600 West. Three people died in the accident.

According to a preliminary crash investigation by the Indiana State Police Pendleton Crash Reconstruction Team a maroon 2010 Ford Flex was traveling north on State Road 67. Benjamin Roger Wilber, 64, and his wife Brenda Kay Wilber, 68, both of Muncie, were traveling south on State Road 67. The Ford Flex crossed the center turn lane and entered the southbound lane where it struck the Wilber’s black 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The driver of the Ford Flex was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilber were both properly restrained, however suffered fatal injuries.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Coroner.

The Indiana State Police is still attempting to locate and notify family members of the Ford Flex driver. All attempts to this point have been unsuccessful. Once notification has been made the identity of the driver will be released.

The crash investigation is ongoing. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have been a factor in the crash.

The Indiana State Police was assisted at the scene by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Daleville Police Department, Salem Township Fire Department, Delaware, Delaware County EMS, Delaware County Coroner’s Office, Delaware County EMA, and Northwest Towing and Recovery.
