Peru man struck by truck in Miami County

PERU – This morning at approximately 12:43 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Peru Police Department responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Broadway Avenue near Park Drive in Peru.

According to a preliminary crash investigation by an Indiana State Police senior trooper 39-year-old Stacy Haines, of Perum was driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck northbound on Broadway Avenue and was approaching Park Drive.

ISP says 25-year-old Andrew Rose, of Peru, was walking northbound on the side of Broadway Avenue. For an undetermined reason, Rose crossed into the path of the Dodge and was struck by the truck.

Rose was initially transported to Duke’s Memorial Hospital, in Peru, but was later flown by medical helicopter to an Ft. Wayne hospital. He sustained life-threatening injuries.

Haines was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
