WEST LAFAYETTE – With its mission to serve adult learners, Purdue University Global continues to strengthen its executive team with innovative educators who can enhance and expand an already effective and robust curriculum. The newest member is Judith Lewandowski, hired as the university’s inaugural vice provost for adult teaching and learning.

In this role, Lewandowski will facilitate the success of the curriculum design and operations teams as they partner across Purdue Global to research, reimagine and continuously improve the university’s educational models.

“I am thrilled to join the Purdue Global executive team in a position that will focus upon the unique needs of adult learners,” Lewandowski said. “Purdue Global is uniquely positioned to amplify the reach of the land-grant mission. I’m excited to be a part of the narrative to reimagine the future of adult education and see firsthand examples of putting theory into practice.”

Lewandowski has over 20 years of experience in teaching and designing courses in higher education, including a tenured faculty role at Indiana University South Bend and serving most recently as director of learning design and curriculum at the University of Notre Dame.

Lewandowski is no stranger to the Purdue family, previously having served as a professor in the learning design and technology graduate program and as outreach coordinator for the Center for Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) at Purdue West Lafayette. In 2018, she received the Purdue University Outstanding Teaching Faculty Award for the College of Education.

Additionally, Lewandowski has worked as an evaluator for the Department of Education.

“Dr. Lewandowski brings a wealth of talent and experience to Purdue Global that is a great match for our work to innovate and enhance online learning and student engagement,” Purdue Global Provost Jon Harbor said. “Her passion for adult learner success and her deep background in educational research and practice will help significantly with the continued evolution of our online learning model.”

Lewandowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Master of Science in curriculum and instruction, and Ph.D. in learning design and technology, all from Purdue.
