Two women arrested after not paying for items at Walmart

BEDFORD – Two Bloomington women were arrested Saturday afternoon after Bedford Police officers were called to Walmart about a theft.

Officers met with the store’s asset protection manager who told officers they had detained two women who had skipped scanned and barcode swapped on several items at the check out register.

Police issued summons to appear in court on a charge of theft to 38-year-old Bethany Lee and 38-year-old Amanda Holland.

The store employee told officers they watched Lee and Holland remove UPC’s from clearance children’s clothes and  place those UPC’s onto items in her cart. She also concealed clothing items in a tote.

The women then went to different registers. Holland scanned and paid for $41.84 worth of  merchandise. Lee paid for $234.67 worth of merchandise.

Holland failed to pay for 43 items for a total of $461.58. Lee failed to pay for 16 items for a total of  $152.31. 

Both women will appear in Lawrence County Superior Court on May 18 at 10:30 a.m. and were issued no-trespass notifications.
