Man arrested on public intoxication charge

 BEDFORD – Police officers arrested 21-year-old Bryson Humphrey of Bedford, on a charge of public intoxication Tuesday.

Bedford Police Department dispatchers received a report of a possibly intoxicated man riding a bicycle in the 1500 block of 22nd Street. The caller said the man had fallen off the bike several times. 

Officers located Humphrey on 23rd Street.

Officers say Humphrey was riding in circles and having difficulty controlling the bike.

Officers asked Humphrey to get off the bike and he almost fell doing so. 

Police say Humphrey was intoxicated. 

In Humphrey’s pocket police found an empty eight cough and cold package. Humphrey told police he had taken six of the pills at one time.

He told police he was staying at a treatment facility on 23rd Street. Officers transported Humphrey and his bike to the treatment facility and left.

A short time later, officers were contacted by residents on 23rd Street who said  Humphrey was stumbling around outside. Police responded and arrested Humphrey on a charge of public intoxication. He was transported to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for medical treatment. Humphrey told the hospital staff he had taken several cold pills, Xanax and consumed alcohol.

Once cleared he was transported to jail.
