Mark Charles Jost

January 22, 1950 – April 22, 2021

Mark Charles Jost, 71, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his residence.

Born January 22, 1950, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Mark Edward and Lois Maxine (Baker) Jost. He married Thelma “Diane” Mattox on September 25, 1970, and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2018.

He retired from the military, serving in the U.S. Navy from June of 1970 to April of 1974 on the USS Durable and then with the U.S. Coast Guard from October of 1976 to May of 1993 serving on the USS Semmus. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Bryan Paul Jost, and wife, Kathy, of Iowa and Brent Mathew Jost and wife, Eliza, of Bicknell; his mother-in-law, Mary Mattox; a sister-in-law, Kathi Thomas, and husband, Scott; a brother-in-law, Tim Goodin; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Marshall Jost, of Columbus and Merle Jost, of Brown Co., IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a father-in-law,
Bill Mattox.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, April 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
