William W. “Bill” Hawkins, 67, of Bedford, passed away on his precious mother’s birthday, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his residence after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born March 20, 1954, in Bedford to James and Elsie (Hunter) Hawkins. He married Cathy Ryan on June 1, 1993, and she survives.
Bill was a graduate of Shawswick High School, class of 1972, and received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University. He retired as a Senior Quality Engineer at General Motors. Then, Bill did consulting work for Pace Industries in Grafton, Wisconsin.
Bill was of the Christian faith and loved politics and basketball. In his younger days, he loved hunting. Bill was a devout family man.
Surviving to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife, Cathy; two children, Hope (Jacob) Boulton and Ryan (April) Poole; two grandchildren, Maddie and Violet Boulton; one sister, Janice (Gene) McCracken; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Bill will be Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Mundell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
The family requests those attending the visitation and services to wear masks.
