BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was arrested Tuesday after a Bedford Police officer stopped his vehicle for speeding, having a malfunctioning brake light and the license plate was improperly displayed.
The vehicle was stopped at 1:57 a.m. at State Road 37 and Brock Lane.

When the officer approached the vehicle he spoke to the driver, 29-year-old Nicholas Arthur. Arthur denied officers consent to search his vehicle. Lawrence County K-9 Dusty alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle on the driver door.
While searching Arthur, police found a baggie containing 1.65 grams of crystal meth in his front pant pocket.
Arthur was arrested on a charge of possession of meth.
