Bloomington woman cited in court for theft from Walmart

BEDFORD – A Bloomington woman was cited in court on a theft charge after Bedford Police Department responded to the Bedford Walmart at 4:09 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Peggy K. Covey, age 64, Bloomington was cited into for theft.

A Walmart asset protection officer stopped Covey after she did not scan all the items she had in her possession at the self-checkout.

Covey denied knowingly failing to scan all the the items.

However, the asset protection officer observed Covey bagging items that had not been scanned. A Walmart employee reminded Covey to make sure all her items were scanned. The asset officer then, noticed after this warning, that she still did not scan the items.

A total of 10 items were not paid for, a total of $94.58.

Covey was cited in Lawrence County Superior Court I on April 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m.
