WASHINGTON CO. – Washington County Sheriff Brent Miller would like to encourage students interested in pursuing an education and career in the criminal justice field to apply for the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) Scholarship.
Every year, the ISA awards up to 40 student scholarships in the amount of $750 each, available throughout the state of Indiana for those pursuing post-secondary education.
“This is a great opportunity for our local students who wish to study criminal justice in college. Any amount students wishing to enter a law enforcement field can access to help offset the cost of college is a benefit and I hope many will take advantage of it by applying,” said Sheriff Miller
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an active affiliate or associate member of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association or a dependent child or grandchild of a member. If the applicant is not a member of the association, they may apply to join the ISA with the scholarship application.
- Be an Indiana resident.
- Attend an Indiana college or university and major in a law enforcement field.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours).
Students may apply for the scholarship for three consecutive years. If you are interested in applying, please contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for an application or your high school counselor. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2021. Scholarship winners will be notified by a notice in “The Indiana Sheriff,” an official publication of Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, by a news release from each sheriff’s office, and by mail/email to each high school, college, or university in the state.
