Obituary: Bishop Elliott Perry


April 14, 1933 – December 20, 2020

Bishop Elliott Perry, 87, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born April 14, 1933, in Ghent, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John Elliott and Bessie (Cain) Perry.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Jordan) Perry, second wife, Cecilia (Hughes) Perry, and siblings (Raymond, Edward, Rev. Paul Perry, Buddy Skaggs, Virgie Myers, Mary Aaron, and Margaret Martin.

Bishop Perry was a veteran of the Korean War, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a minister of the Gospel for 60 years. 46 of these years were at Guide Pointe Church in Bedford.

He was ordained with the United Pentecostal Church International.

Bishop Perry was a man of varied interests, both civic and personal. Some of these interests included antiques, culinary arts, charitable work, world traveling, and he was the co-founder of JC’s Christian Academy.

For several years, he operated Handyman Construction Bishop Elliott Perry is survived by his wife Nila; his sons, Pastor Bruce (Joanna) Perry of Elizabethtown, KY and Pastor Chris (Julie) Perry of Bedford, IN; Siblings, Rev. H. Ray (Karen) Perry of Louisville, KY and Robert C. (Bob) Perry of Turner’s Station, KY; Grandchildren Alexus, Christopher, Kristin, Zara, and Augustus Perry; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2020, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Guide Pointe Church in Bedford, and from noon to time of service at 1 p.m. We will celebrate his life on Tuesday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Bishop’s memory to the Guide Pointe Church playground fund.
