Nellie Polk, 92 of Bedford, died on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born March 25, 1928 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Merle and Hallie (Inman) Phillips. She married James K. Polk and he preceded her in death. Nellie had previously worked at Crane as a laborer.
Surviving is one son, Kenneth Polk, of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Ashley Polk of Bedford andShayna (Polk) Thompson of Orleans; two grandsons, Dennis Polk of Indianapolis and Kevin Polk of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, James S. Polk; her parents; and her two sisters, Sarah Boone and Ellen Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Phil Thorne officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery.
