(UNDATED) – The Environmental Education Association of Indiana (EEAI) recently presented the 2020 Joe Wright Award to Rachel Woodworth of the Indiana DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW).
The award is given annually in recognition of specific achievements in the field of environmental education. Past recipients include teachers, naturalists, education project coordinators, and natural resource agency personnel. Woodworth, an education outreach specialist, received the award for her work coordinating Indiana’s Project WET and Project WILD professional development workshops with educators and adapting to virtual learning.
“I could not be more impressed with or confident in her abilities to lead us into the next chapter of environmental education,” said Shannon Hudson, one of Rachel’s Project WET/WILD facilitators who nominated her for the award.
Woodworth has been with the Indiana DNR for two years. She coordinates a network of educators who gain experience through the internationally recognized Project WET and Project WILD. These conservation and environmental education programs are among the most widely used in prekindergarten through high school. The programs emphasize the intrinsic value of wildlife and raise awareness for water resource management.
