Visit Bloomington Achieves Destination Marketing Re-Accreditation, Renewal Awarded With Distinction

(BLOOMINGTON) – Visit Bloomington announces they have achieved the designation of “accredited with distinction” as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) by the travel industry’s leading trade organization, Destinations International (DI).

Founded in 1977, Visit Bloomington is Monroe County’s official destination marketing, tourism, and hospitality organization, and focuses on bringing leisure, convention, and sports visitors to the county.

Achieving this is a valuable recognition for Visit Bloomington that assures industry partners, stakeholders, and potential visitors that the organization has reached a significant measure of excellence.Successful accreditation requires rigorous industry standards are met in over 100 categories, including finance, visitor services, sales, marketing, and communications while upholding the DI’s Organizational Code of Ethics. 

“We first achieved accreditation in 2006 and this is the first time we were awarded the honor with distinction,” said Visit Bloomington Executive Director, Mike McAfee. “The program helps us grow by pushing us to plan and execute better while being innovators in our industry,” he added.
