Washington Hatchet’s Will Forfeit Sectional Football Game Friday

(WASHINGTON) – Daviess County Health Officer, Dr. Merle Holsopple, and the Daviess County Health Department have canceled the upcoming Washington Hatchet sectional Football game this weekend.

The Daviess County Health Department was notified by Monroe County Health officials of positive COVID players at last weekend’s game between the Hatchets and Edgewood.

After reviewing the game, it was determined many Washington Hatchet football players had direct close contact with the positive case and must be isolated.

The Washington Hatchets defeated Edgewood to earn a spot in the 3-A Sectional Championship Game that was scheduled for this Friday at Sullivan High School. But now they must forfeit the game. After the forfeit the Edgewood Arrows will become sectional champions and move on to the regionals.
