16-Year-Old Arrested On Murder And Aggravated Battery Charges

(GREENWOOD) — A 16-year-old boy was arrested Friday night in a shooting that killed a 15-year-old and injured a man.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Marcus Salatin, of Greenwood, on preliminary charges of murder and aggravated battery.

The Sheriff’s Department received several calls of “shots fired” beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Friday at the Fox Berry Trace subdivision, near Smith Valley Road and County Road 400 West.

Deputies arrived to find people in a car who said that a person named Marcus had shot them.

The driver and back seat passenger provided a description of where they thought he lived. Deputies responded to Salatin’s home and asked him to exit the residence. He complied without incident and was arrested.

The front seat passenger in the vehicle, 15-year-old Kashius Davis, of Bargersville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old man who was in the back of the car was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening, injury.

Police say the juvenile male driver was not injured in the incident.

The sheriff’s office asks that anyone who witnessed the shooting or has some home surveillance of the shooting call Johnson County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Damian Katt at 317-346-4604.
