Demolition Of Overlook Shelter Scheduled Next Week Near Bean Blossom

(BROWN COUNTY) – Indiana Department of Transportation crews will be on-site on or after Wednesday, Nov. 4, to remove the shelter house at the overlook off of State Road 135 near Bean Blossom.

Significant structural damage was discovered during a recent inspection of the shelter, leading to the state and county’s decision to demolish the structure.

The concrete slab will remain and picnic tables at the shelter will be moved to storage until a new one is built, potentially this coming spring. INDOT will be working with Brown County over the next few months to transfer ownership to the county.

Demolition may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.
