Obituary: Darryl R. Callaway

October 29, 1963 – October 2, 2020

Darryl R. Callaway, 56, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020.

Born October 29, 1963, in Evansville, he was the son of Lowell and Betty (Shelton) Callaway. Darryl married Dixie Mundy on March 2, 1991 and she survives.

He was a 1982 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and the IBEW 16 Journeyman Apprenticeship. Darryl worked as an Electrician and Safety Director at General Motors.

Darryl loved spending time with his family and enjoyed riding and working on his motorcycles. He was a member of the Restoration Church of the Nazarene; local IBEW 16 Union; and a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group.

Surviving are his wife, Dixie, of Bedford; step-son, Brandon (Nikki) Deckard; step-daughter, Whitney (Toby) Harrison; five grandchildren, Blayne Harrison, Brylee Harrison, Griffin Deckard, Anna Deckard, and Braylen Harrison; one sister, Rachel (Steve) Sheldon; three nephews, Samuel Sheldon, David (Emily) Sheldon, and Noah Sheldon; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Mundy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David in infancy.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Pastor Ken Bushey officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
