Mitchell Man Arrested after Domestic Fight

(MITCHELL) – A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday after Mitchell Police officers responded to a home in the 500 block of West Oak Street after a report of a domestic fight.

Stacy Coulter, his mug shot from an earlier arrest this month.

Police arrested 47-year-old Stacy Coulter on charges of domestic battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Mitchell Police officers went to the home at 3:30 p.m. after receiving an anonymous call saying they could hear someone screaming for help coming from the home on West Oak Street.

When police arrived they found several people sitting on the front porch, including Coulter.

The officers asked Coulter what was going on and he replied in a rude tone “nothing”.

Police told those on the porch they were there after a report of an altercation and they wanted to make sure everyone was okay.

Coulter told police “everyone is fine, there is nothing going
on here”.

While on the porch officers could hear someone crying loudly from inside the apartment.

A woman motioned toward a bathroom located in the hallway common area of the apartment building.

Officers entered the building and found a woman sitting in the shower crying.

The woman told police Coulter had kicked her two times, once in the hip and once in the leg. There was a red mark on the woman’s hip and a small abrasion on her leg.

The woman told police Coulter got mad at her because she took too long running errands.

Officers then arrested Coulter. In his pocket police found a smoking device used to smoke marijuana.

Coulter then became verbally abusive and smelled as if he had been drinking.

Coulter then told police that the woman could say anything she wants and he gets arrested. He then denied hitting the woman and police should have on record’ that she is a liar.

The woman was advised about help available to women in domestic violence situations but she refused to call the hotline.
