(BEDFORD) – A Bedford woman was arrested on drug charges after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department K-9 alerted officers to drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop early this morning.
A Bedford Police officer stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation at 1:10 a.m.
During that traffic stop, the driver appeared nervous and denied officers consent to search the vehicle.

There was a person sitting in the front seat passenger and 33-year-old Jessica George was in sitting in the back seat.
The K-9 alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle.
“During the search officers located methamphetamine in a black purse where George was sitting,” said Chief Terry Moore. “They also located a syringe stuffed in the seat where George was sitting. The two males were released from the traffic stop with the driver receiving a written warning for the equipment violation.”
George was arrested on charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
